Bamboo Craft Training for Tribal Women

A 15 day training programme for 25 tribal women to train them for making of various items from bamboo, was organised in Ranchi recently. The local NGO 'Changing Lives Transforming India' with the SBI Rural Self Employment Training Institute organised this event from 23rd April to 7th May 2016. In this training programmes the tribal women were given detailed direction as to how they could make different items, like lamp shades, boards, pen-stand, tray, jewellery box and other decorative items, using bamboo. It may be mentioned that bamboo is abundantly available in the jungles of Jharkhand where these tribal women are familiar with. This training was special as it also provided information for credit linkage with the bank. The aim of this exercise was to educate these tribal women about advance and easy technique of bamboo craft and make them self-reliant and capable to represent/sale of their creation in the market.
