15 Sewage Treatment Plants In U'khand Under 'Clean Ganga'

The Uttarakhand government has begun the process of constructing 15 sewage treatment plants that would stop direct discharge of municipal waste from towns along the banks of the Ganga.

According to the master plan, the government will undertake 21 projects under the Namami Gange mission to ensure that the river remains clean while flowing through the state.

The government has identified 15 high-priority towns, including Haridwar, Rishikesh, Tapovan, Rudraprayag, Karnprayag, Joshimath, Rishikesh and Kirtinagar where a number of drains have been found directly discharging polluted water into the Ganga.
