MP Farmers Happy With Bumper Harvest

A good, even if not record, wheat crop along with improved prices brings cheer after two not-so-good years among the farmers of Madhya Pradesh.

A report by Miind Ghatwai from Dewas in Madhya Pradesh, published in The Indian Express, talks of the smile on the faces of farmers here, that has come because of the good harvest this year. In this report the farmers are talking of the crop, the improved minimum support price offered by the government. They are also talking of the silos where the entire offloading, weighing and handling of grain is automated. It dispenses with the need for paying porters, spending nights outside mandis during peak procurement time, or offering speed money to officials.

One interesting quote from one farmer : "I’m a Congress worker, but will admit that things have really improved for farmers under the present (BJP) regime."
