Renovation Of 24 Ghats Along Ganga In Bengal Completed

The National Mission for Clean Ganga has sanctioned and completed 24 Ghats and Crematoria projects in West Bengal at a cost of Rs 180.16 Crores. The  above infrastructure was created in Kolkata, Bansberia, Howrah, Seerampore, Khardah, Naihati, Chandanagar, Baidyabati, Panihati, Kamarhati, Bally, Titagarh, Mahestala, North Barrackopore, Koonagar, Hooghly-Chinsura, Halishahar, Budge-Budge and Uttarpara-Kotrung municipalities. Further 7 more projects of Ghats & Crematoria under Entry Level Activities have been sanctioned which comprises renovation & development of 15 Ghats and 4 Electric Crematoria at a cost of Rs 48.47 crores.

Under Namami Gange programme, a total of 187 projects for various activities such as treatment of municipal sewage, treatment of industrial effluent, river surface cleaning, rural sanitation, ghats & crematoria works, afforestation, biodiversity, awareness creation & public outreach etc. have been sanctioned. 47 projects out of this have been completed so far and the remaining are to be completed by 2020.
