Tracing Missing Children With Zeal

The perception is such that whenever we talk of the police force, we hear that they take action only if one has the right connection. However, many examples come to light when they do exceptional work to help the commoner.

Here is a story of a team in Delhi's Rohini area of Vijay Vihar where the police were able to reunite 77 children with their families in four months of 2016. Details of their feat can be read in this Times of India report by Pankhuri Yadav. The team has used old-fashioned methods as well as taking help of social media. The team has been awarded with the "Asadharan Karya Puraskar".

Data shows that most of the missing children are between the 13-16 year age group.

There would be many such success stories all around the country and the media should make special efforts to bring them to the attention of the common citizen.
