Department of Fertilizers is committed to do its utmost efforts to reduce the consumption of single use plastics. As these are non biodegradable they pollute our environment. An effective ban on single use plastic can happen if an alternative is available in the market. Cloth/Jute bags, locally tailored and produced can be viable alternative.
Women’s self help groups can easily be trained for tailoring and marketing of such cloth bags.
Looking into such opportunities, Department of Fertilizers, during the Swachhata Pakhwada and Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign, decided to distribute cloth bags produced by Women’s Self help Group Sri Laxmi Devi Swasya Group of village Maragondanahalli Grama Panchayat Ramohalli District, Karnataka to its employees.
It is hoped that the employees would not only use cloth bags for the daily use but will be enthused to take action towards reducing use of plastic and would focus plastic waste management in a big way. At the same time, the local production by self-help groups would also contribute as additional source of income to them.
It is a small step taken by Department of Fertilizers to reduce single use plastic usage and to make people aware of viable alternative while at the same time to improve the income and livelihood of rural women of India.
उर्वरक विभाग एकल उपयोग प्लास्टिक की खपत कम करने के लिए कपड़ा/जूट बैग को प्रोत्साहित करेगा
उर्वरक विभाग एकल उपयोग प्लास्टिक की खपत घटाने के लिए सभी प्रयास करने के लिए संकल्पबद्ध है। एकल उपयोग वाले प्लास्टिक जैविक रूप से नष्ट नहीं होते और हमारे पर्यावरण को प्रदूषित करते हैं। एकल उपयोग प्लास्टिक पर कारगर पाबंदी तभी लग सकती है जब बाजार में विकल्प उपलब्ध हो। स्थानीय स्तर पर बने कपड़ा/जूट के बैग अच्छे विकल्प हो सकते हैं।
कपड़े के ऐसे बैगों की सिलाई और विपणन के लिए महिला स्वयं सहायता समूहों को प्रशिक्षण दिया जा सकता है।
इस अवसर को देखते हुए उर्वरक विभाग ने स्वच्छता पखवाड़ा और स्वच्छता ही सेवा अभियान के दौरान अपने कर्मचारियों को कपड़े के बैग वितरित करने का निर्णय लिया। यह बैग कर्नाटक के रामोहल्ली जिले के मरागोंडनहल्ली ग्राम पंचायत की श्री लक्ष्मी देवी स्वयं सहायता समूह की महिलाओं द्वारा बनाए गए हैं।
आशा है कि कर्मचारी कपड़े के बैग का न केवल दैनिक उपयोग में काम लाएंगे, बल्कि वे प्लास्टिक के उपयोग को कम करने के लिए उत्साहित होंगे और बड़े पैमाने पर प्लास्टिक कचरा प्रबंधन करेंगे। साथ-साथ स्वयं सहायता समूहों का स्थानीय उत्पादों से उन्हें अतिरिक्त आय होगी।
उर्वरक विभाग द्वारा एकल उपयोग प्लास्टिक की खपत कम करने का यह छोटा कदम है, लेकिन यह लोगों को अच्छे विकल्प के प्रति जागरूक करेगा और इससे भारत की ग्रामीण महिलाओं की आय और आजीविका में सुधार होगा।
