Timetabled Parcel trains operated by Zonal Railways provides boost to transportation of essential medicines and other medical equipments during the lockdown
Indian Railways is ensuring seamless transportation of medical items on priority during the nationwide lock down due to COVID-19. Indian Railways continues to deliver medicines, masks, hospital items and other medical commodities through its timetabled parcel services to strengthen Government’s efforts in managing the challenges and adverse impact of corona virus in the country.
As on 18.04.2020, Indian Railways has transported 1150 Tonnes medical items in various parts of the country.
Indian Railways is touching human lives during the hour of crisis. Recently, for an autistic child, skimmed camel milk was transported by a Parcel Train from Ajmer to Mumbai when the parents resorted for help on social media platform. Similarly, another autistic child in Ajmer suffering from serious ailments, had his stock of medicines run out, his relatives approached Railway officials and medicines were transported by a parcel train from Ahmedabad to Ajmer.

कोविड-19 के कारण हुए राष्ट्रव्यापी लॉकडाउन के दौरान, भारतीय रेलवे द्वारा प्राथमिकता के आधार पर चिकित्सा वस्तुओं का निर्बाध परिवहन सुनिश्चित किया जा रहा है। देश में कोरोनावायरस की चुनौतियों का सामना करने और प्रतिकूल प्रभावों का प्रबंधन करने में सरकार के प्रयासों को मजबूती प्रदान करने के लिए, भारतीय रेलवे द्वारा समय-सारणी वाली अपनी पार्सल सेवाओं के माध्यम से दवाओं, मास्क, अस्पताल की वस्तुओं और चिकित्सा के अन्य उपयोगी वस्तुओं का लगातार वितरण किया जा रहा है।
18-04-2020 तक, भारतीय रेलवे ने देश के विभिन्न हिस्सों में 1,150 टन चिकित्सा वस्तुओं का परिवहन किया है।
भारतीय रेलवे संकट की इस घड़ी में मानव जीवन को छू रही है। हाल ही में एक ऑटिस्टिक बच्चे के माता-पिता ने सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म पर मदद के लिए आग्रह किया तो उस बच्चे के लिए ऊंटनी के मलाईरहित दूध को अजमेर से मुंबई पार्सल ट्रेन के जरिए पहुंचाया गया। इसी प्रकार अजमेर में एक अन्य ऑटिस्टिक बच्चा, जो गंभीर बीमारियों से जूझ रहा था, उसके दवाइयों का स्टॉक खत्म हो गया तो उसके रिश्तेदारों ने रेलवे अधिकारियों से संपर्क किया और अहमदाबाद से अजमेर के लिए पार्सल ट्रेन के माध्यम से दवाइयां पहुंचायी गईं।
