The Gau-Vikash Prakastha of the BJP is ready to go all out to ensure Mudra Bank loans to cattle owners. The group is using this route to prevent cattle smuggling and cow slaughtering in Bengal.
The move comes at a time when incidents of Gau-rakshaks attacking Dalits and Muslims are being reported frequently.
"Pleading with people to protect cows did not yield satisfactory results which we are getting now through this process," said Subrata Gupta, Bengal president of Gau-Vikash Prakastha.
The volunteers are visiting households with application forms. The options include setting up cow shelters, diary units and biogas and manure production units. One needs to give a written declaration that the borrower would never indulge in cow slaughtering and use the loan for projects strictly linked to cows.
