Ekal Vidyalaya movement has been working in remote villages for the last 28 years. Started in Jharkhand (then it was part of Bihar) in 1988-89, today has its presence in some 54,000 villages. Today Ekal with its five-tire education programme to uplift the people residing in remote villages has been successfully moving ahead. It provides basic education, health-care education, development education, empowerment education and value/ethics education.
Earlier last year Prime Minister Narendra Modi had words of appreciation for the Ekal efforts in empowering people in remote Bharat. This video is of a programme in which the PM speaks on Ekal.
