Construction of toilets in households has increased manifold after PM Narendra Modi launched a campaign for this under his Swachh Bharat mission. And Swachh Bharat is directly related to Swastha Bharat. It is estimated that 52.85% households in the country have toilets. From October 2, 2014 the increase seen in the number of households having toilets is to the tune of 10.73%. The number show that 1,95,10,758 toilets have been built since this date. Last week alone showed 3,68,536 toilets being built. Reports suggest that 64,447 villages are now open defecation free. However, even with having toilets at home some still prefer not to use it. The need has arisen to start an extensive campaign to persuade people to make use of these toilets. An excellent article in Indian Express must be read.
