The sixth ‘Ekal on Wheel’ (EoW)was launched on 15 July, the World Youth Skills Day, in a major event organized at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. EoW is a flagship programme of the Ekal Gramothan Foundation. This is a mobile training facility set up in a bus, having work stations. It moves around remote villages training the rural and tribal youth. Earlier EoWs have been operating successfully in Jharkhand and UP. This EoW will be operating in Bengal.
This sixth EoW was flagged off by Sh. Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Smt. Smriti Irani, Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, Sh. J. P. Nadda, Hon'ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Sh. Narendra Singh Tomar, Hon'ble Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy praised Ekal and called it one of the most important grassroots movements in India. The Ministers sat inside the EoW and were informed of the model and working of these mobile training labs.
Many from the Ekal Abhiyan were present at the function including businessman and philanthropist Shri Laxmi Narain Goel Ji, who is also the Chairman of Ekal Gramothan Foundation. Dr. H. R. Nagendra, President of SVYASA university also graced the occasion.
It may be mentioned that Ekal Abhiyan has been working in remote/tribal villages with its mission for holistic village development. Ekal is running projects in more than 65,000 villages in the remotest regions throughout the country. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has also praised Ekal in several of his speeches.
