Architect Students of Jamia Shaping Lives Of Needy

A few angels in disguise have come in the form of a few architecture students of Jamia Milia Islamia, in New Delhi who have taken up the task of providing primary education to children living in the settlement where the construction workers reside.

These architecture students, who will be designing buildings in their careers, have already started contributing to the community by shaping the lives of underprivileged children through a makeshift playschool, called Parwaaz, on a patch of barren land next to the hostel construction site. Till a few weeks ago, this land was a garbage dump.

"We were given an assignment to develop a waste area for the welfare of society, so we decided to do something closer to home," said Faiz Ahmed, a third-year architecture student who built the school. "Parwaaz means flight and we are giving wings to the underprivileged children through education," he added.

An excellent inspirational story of how community, specially the youth, can help in educating the needy in city slums. A sure example which can easily be replicated elsewhere.
