Central government has recognized differently abled persons as an integral part of Human Resource and is committed towards Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in the country. Standing by the commitment towards empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) a camp for free of cost distribution of Assistive Aids and Appliances under the ADIP scheme of government of India was organised by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Kanpur working under the aegis of Department Of Empowerment Of Person with Disability (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in close association with Department of Social Welfare & Social Education, Govt. of Tripura and District Administration, West Tripura in Agartala, Tripura on Saturday.
The event was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Tripura Shri Manik Sarkar in the presence of Chief Guest of the event Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Government Of India. Smt. Jharna Das Baidya, Member of Parliament (Rajyasabha) of Tripura and Smt. Bijita Nath, Minister for Social Welfare, Government of Tripura were also present during the function as Special guest and Guest of Honour respectively.
The Chief guest MoS Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, declared on the occasion that all Hearing Impaired persons will be given Hearing Aids in the state and the grant for Braille press for printing of Braille books in the state. He further added that a Composite Rehabilitation Centre shall be established for the state to cater persons with disabilities. He also declared that on the request of the state government 100 bedded hostel facilities for OBC and SC students shall be established.
Addressing on the occasion Chief minister of Tripura Shri Manik Sarkar congratulated the minister and the department for the excellent work done under ADIP Scheme.
A total of 526 pre identified beneficiaries with different kind of disabilities to be provided with 880 numbers of aids and assistive devices manufactured and distributed by ALIMCO valuing over Rs. 50 Lakhs under the ADIP scheme of Government of India in the camp.
Modern contemporary Aids and Assistive devices were distributed in the camp which includes 68-Daisy Players, 66-Smart Canes & 84-smart phone for Visually Impaired 01-ADL Kits (includes cell phone) for persons affected from Leprosy.
Among various other assistive aids and devices provided in the camp were 50-Tricycles, 48-Wheelchairs, 180-Crutches Axilla, 15-Walking Stick, 22-Rollato for Orthopedically Impaired persons 47-Braille Kit, 219-Behind The Ear – Digital Hearing Aid machines and 02 C.P Chair & 78 MSIED Kit (Multi Sensory Inclusive Educational Kit) for Children with Special needs.
