The 114 km long Rameshwaram to Manamadurai railway line has become country's first green rail corridor. On this stretch there will be zero toilet discharge with trains of the section now equipped with bio-toilets. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu inaugurated this corridor through video-conferencing on Sunday. The Jammu-Katra stretch will also become green by March 2017. Railway Minister informed that till March 2016 35,104 bio-toilets had been made operational and the commitment is there to convert all toilets to bio-toilets.
