Madhya Pradesh government becomes the first in the country to have a Department of Happiness. Passed by the cabinet on 15th July this will be called "Anand Vibhag". The idea was first mooted by state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan some three months back. The department will identify the parameters that make people happy and recommend policy changes for implementation to increase the level of happiness and satisfaction. Chief Minister Chouhan believes that economic prosperity is not the only parameter of happiness.
