Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil key initiatives and a hub to provide support to entrepreneurs from the SC/ST community in Ludhiana on 18th October. The initial outlay will be 490 cr. for the period 2016-20 as per the MSME minister Karlaj Mishra. The Prime Minister will also launch zero defect, zero effect (on environment) (ZED) scheme, distribute charkhas to women and present national awards to outstanding micro, small and medium enterprises.
This formal inauguration next week marks the fulfilment of another budget promise of the government. The hub would operate from National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Headquarters in Delhi. It will work towards strengthening market access/linkage, monitoring, capacity building of the units under SC/ST leadership. The hub will also share information on industry best practices so that these enterprises compete with others. Special efforts will be needed in districts having large presence of SC/ST entrepreneurs. Earlier, in July, Government had issued guidelines related to setting up of the National Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Hub.
