Considering that the poor and marginal farmers are facing hardship because of cash deficit following the demonetisation move announced on 8th Nov, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has asked banks to distribute at least 40% of currency notes in rural area.
As per the guidelines of RBI banks have been asked to advise their currency chests to issue fresh currency to rural branches of regional rural banks, District Central Co-op Banks, commercial banks, white label ATMs and post offices in rural areas on priority. Lower denomination notes should be issued liberally as per RBI.
