1150 children were rescued by the railway police last year on the Central Railways’ Mumbai division. And out of these 1150 children Rekha Mishra came to the aid of 434 children.
32-year-old Rekha Mishra hails from Allahabad, comes from an Army family. Her father, Surendra Narayan, is a retired army man, and two of her three brothers are soldiers.
Mishra says that out of the over 400 children she rescued last year, she especially remembers three Chennai girls who she reunited with their parents. “They are all around 14, and first told me that they had escaped from kidnappers. Since language was a barrier, we had to get a translator. But they finally opened up, and told me that they had run away from home to act in the movies.”
Story of Rekha Mishra will certainly motivate others too. Read more of this in a report by Kamal Mishra, published in Mumbai Mirror...
