School Students Make Paper Bags For Self Use

Media reports many a times of steps being taken to shun away plastic bags, many NGOs are also making efforts in this direction, even states after states have come out with rules which prohibit the use of polythene - still we do not see any drop in its use. Throughout the country when one travels, the trash seen will be mostly of the polythene bags that one uses.

One news published in The Telegraph today, is worth taking note of. The news says that the students of JH Tarpore School in Jamshedpur gathered for a 3 hour training on how to make paper bags from newspapers and make planters from discarded plastic bottles. And these paper bags will be used by the students themselves and give extra ones made to nearby shopkeepers.

Such programmes should be conducted on a regular basis in all schools. Many of them may be already doing it. Still, going a step further the schools should lay stress that students do not bring any poly-bags in the premises. This subject should be added in curriculum for all classes, where not being done.
