Domestic Workers Sector Skill Council (DWSSC) is a non-profit organization, under the aegis of National Skill Development Corporation of the ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

The objective of the course for domestic workers is to give them a sense of dignity in what they do. It involves giving them a deeper understanding of their role. The course is divided into study of four key roles - general housekeeper, housekeeper-cum-cook, child caretaker and elderly caregiver. Soft skills like communication and some English are also part of the course.

"Nearly a thousand people have been trained in Delhi over the past six months and four thousand more across the country," says the council chairman, Amod Kanth.

Such efforts should be made elsewhere too.
