Rajasthan has taken a number of steps for ensuring the welfare and social and economic upliftment of the specially disabled persons. Efforts in the field of education, employment, medical and health services, social security, rehabilitation and redressal of their grievances have set new milestones in improving the lives of the specially disabled.
The schemes and programmes initiated by the present government have not only brought succour to this section of the society but also connected them with the mainstream of development. The Social Justice and Empowerment department has implemented several schemes for the welfare of the specially disabled persons.
Scholarship is being provided to those students , who are regularly studying in government or recognised education institutions and whose family income is not more than Rs 2 lakhs and fees of those specially disabled students who belong to general and other backward classes is being reimbursed
Mukhyamantri specially disabled self employment Scheme
Loan amount worth Rs 5 lakhs is being made available to those specially disabled whose self income and annual family income is upto Rs 2 lakhs for the purpose of self employment. Fifty percent of the loan amount or maximum Rs 50 thousand, whichever is less, will be provided as the subsidy
Happy couple life scheme
Financial assistance of Rs 50 thousand is being made available per couple to the disabled men/women for leading a happy married life after their marriage. Besides, Rs 20 thousand is sanctioned to the institution for organising ‘Parichey Sammelan’ for specially disabled.
Joint financial subsidy scheme
Financial assistance is being made to the eligible specially disabled, whose family is not an income tax payee, for the purpose of self employment and financial assistance of Rs 10 thousand for artificial limbs to overcome the physical disability.
Specially Disabled Anuprati scheme
Subsidy amount of Rs 5 thousand to Rs 65 thousand is provided to the aspirants of the specially disabled category for the success in the Indian Civil Services, organized by the Public Service Commission, Rajasthan State and Allied Services (Direct Recruitment) organised by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission and for admission in Professional /Technical courses through educational institutions of national level and the government engineering and government medical colleges of the state.
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaye specially disabled camps
A special drive has been started across the state for identifying the specially disabled persons to ensure their empowerment and welfare. Similarly, under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016, a category of disabilities has been raised to 21.
Self Employment for the Specially Disabled
In order to provide self employment and employment training to the Specially Disabled, MoU has been signed between the Directorate and Sarthak Education Trust. Training has been imparted to the 340 Specially Disabled persons through vocational training centres. Of which, employment has been provided to 280 Specially Disabled persons by the private companies. And at present, 280 Specially Disabled are being provided training.
