Using ground water, most of the rural population in villages are prone to water-borne diseases. It was a similar story for village Sadhopur in Greater Noida in UP till some time back. And then, initiated by the Enactus Shri Ram College of Commerce, a non-profit organisation with nearly 70,000 students as active members, a project was taken up to provide clean drinking water in the rural areas. Not only has the campaign enabled 80% of the villagers to use clay-based water filter but also given a fresh lease of life to the potter community.
Read this report by Manash Goshair in TOI. This may change the lives of villagers elsewhere too. Other NGOs can also join in and help in better health for the rural population.
