Universal Screening For Diabetes, BP And Cancer

Pushed by PM Narendra Modi, the Health Ministry will implement universal screening for diabetes, hypertension and three types of cancer for everyone over 30 years in selected 100 districts.

According to ministry sources once this work starts in full swing, this would be rolled out for every citizen and the target is to do this screening at least once in three years. Training for health workers who will conduct this screening is likely to start this month and the screening process in the selected districts to start in the beginning of next financial year. 

It may be mentioned that as per the data collected by Central Bureau of Health Intelligence total cancer cases in the country in 2012 was 10,57,204 which increased in 2015 to 11,48,692. The projections for 2020 is 13,20,928 (men-6,22,203 and women-6,98,725)
