We have been hearing of fraudulent property deals for years, as one could not know even if the registration papers provided are genuine. There have been cases when one property has been sold to many. There have been cases when a property has been sold by someone who is not the real owner. And so on...
Now, in Delhi details of properties registered across all 21 registrar offices will be made available online. An e-search will provide the complete status of a particular property including its sale deed, mortgage and lease deed etc. Read the details in the report by Ambika Pandit of TNN.
Such an exercise should be undertaken elsewhere too. Such fraudulent cases do occur everywhere.
