Before an Ekal school started in village Chodampalli in Anantpur anchal of Andhra Pradesh the villagers had little knowledge of the national festivals. All this has changed today. Seeing the students of Ekal singing national anthem on 26th January and 15th August the villagers have also started participating in the celebrations. With regular community gatherings, promoted by Ekal, social harmony and awareness towards cleanliness has increased.
It may be mentioned here that Ekal Vidyalayas or One Teacher Schools are run in 53,000 + villages across the country.

वर्ष 2006 में मैं एकल अभियान के साथ आचार्य के रूप में जुड़ा। मेरा गांव चौडम पल्ली अत्यन्त पिछड़ा था जहां शिक्षा के प्रति बहुत कम रूचि थी। एकल विद्यालय खुलने से बच्चों ने वहां प्रतिदिन वन्दना करना और खेल-खेल में तेलगू एवं गणित सीखना शुरू कर दिया। और यहां अच्छे संस्कार भी सीखने लगे। उनके माता पिता कहते है कि अब हमारे बच्चे हमारी बात मानने शुरू कर दिये हैं और सफाई से रहने लगे है।
हमारे विद्यालय में बच्चे अब कोलाट्टम (सांस्कृतिक नृत्य) करते है। प्रेरक कथाएं सुनते हैं तथा तेलुगू कवियों के देशभक्ति के गीत गाते हैं। एकल विद्यालय खुलने के पहले गांव में किसी भी राष्ट्रीय त्यौहार की जानकारी नहीे थी। हमारे बच्चों को राष्ट्रीय गीत गाते देख एवं 26 जनवरी एवं 15 अगस्त को झण्डोत्तोलन करते देख, अब गांव के लोग स्वयं से राष्ट्रीय पर्व उत्साह से मनाने लगे है। धार्मिक उत्सवों पर सहभोज करते है, जिससे गांव में समरसता, जागरूकता और राष्ट्रप्रेम बढ़ा है।
