To spread digital literacy among the tribal and rural youth in villages, Ekal’s ‘gramothan’ wing started Ekal On Wheels, a mobile computer van, which travels from village to village to create computer awareness reaching at the doorstep of these youth.
Ekal On Wheels is a project under digital literacy initiative of Ekal Gramothan Foundation, where a bus is converted into a mobile training lab with laptops ported in it to provide training in the remote villages and skill the unreached rural and tribal youth. Vans are powered with solar panels, have 9 working stations which can accommodate up to 18 students. These vans cover about 36 villages, impart training to more than 600 students in a year, with a curriculum registered with Spoken Tutorial Project of IIT Bombay to make trainees eligible for various employment opportunities. About 3500 students have been trained in last 2 years by these vans.
Ekal Gramothan Foundation has launched the Ekal On Wheels mobile vans in different states that includes U.P, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Assam, Chhatishgarh, Telangana, Odhisa, Himachal Pradesh and West Bengal which has been successfully imparting training to the youth in the remote villages.
Ekal On Wheels won the Digital “Trailblazers award” at Digital India Conclave 2016 for innovation in digital literacy, organized by HP India, India Today and KPMG.
Asian Development Research Institute has conducted assessment of EOW’s Karanjo project. Assessment says that computer literacy and self-confidence are major drivers for children to attend the program. Assessment also says that 25% of learners wished to enrol for advance courses.
At present 16 Ekal On Wheels are in operation and 5 more are in pipelines.
भारत के ग्रामीण और वनांचलों के युवाओं को कम्प्यूटर की शिक्षा देकर उन्हें डिजिटल साक्षर करने का नवप्रयोग किया एकल अभियान की एकल ऑन वील्ज़ ने । एकल की इस कम्प्यूटर वैन में 9 लैपटॉप से 18 युवाओं को ,d अनुभवी प्रशिक्षक के द्वारा प्रशिक्षण दिया जा रहा है । इन लैपटॉप में आई आई टी मुंबई के छात्रों के द्वारा विशेष रूप से बनाए गए कम्प्यूटर कोर्स को 48 घंटों में पूर्ण कराया जाता है और कोर्स पूर्ण होने पर इन युवाओं को प्रशिक्षित होने का सर्टिफ़िकेट प्रदान किया जाता है । हर वर्ष एक कम्प्यूटर वैन 36 गाँवों के 600 युवाओं को उन्हीं के घर के निकट कम्प्यूटर का प्रशिक्षण देती है । सम्पूर्ण भारत के ग्रामों और वनवासी क्षेत्रों में इस प्रकार की 15 वैन गाँव-गाँव जाकर युवाओं को डिजिटल साक्षर कर रही है और लक्ष्य है सम्पूर्ण भारत के सभी राज्यों में इस प्रकार की कम्प्यूटर वैन के द्वारा ग्रामीण युवाओं को डिजिटल साक्षर करने का । एकल के इस प्रयास की देश विदेश में सराहना हो रही है और सन 2016 में एकल के इस अभिनव प्रयास को ट्रेyब्लैजर पुरस्कार जो कि एच पी और के पी एम जी इंडिया टुडे के द्वारा दिया गया । आज ये एकल ऑन व्हील्स युवाओं के सशक्तिकरण हेतू एक अमूल्य उigkर बन गयी है ।
