While commuting one has to cross toll plazas so often now a days. And mostly we find men working at these toll plazas. We have heard of unruly behaviour of many at the toll plazas too, mostly because one does not want to pay.
This gender barrier has been broken at the Gurgaon-Faridabad toll plaza in Haryana. 18 women, as of now, have been employed, for the first time, since February 1 this year. As per one official of the Reliance Infrastructure Ltd, which handles this plaza, women work only the morning shift from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. as there might be safety issues. Most of these women are between 20 and 25 years. A positive side to this, as per one official is that instances of altercations have reduced.
