A Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET) will come up in Ranchi in 3 months. This will function under the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals. The Institute will offer courses on skill development, technology support and promote further research in the field of plastics engineering & technology.
The estimated cost of the setting up of this Institute is 51.32 cr Rupees.
In its first batch it is expected that some 1500 students will be trained in the Institute. Various 6-month skill development programmes and a 3-yr diploma programme is planned initially. Subsequently engineering and master's degree courses will be offered.
The Ranchi CIPET is the 30th of its kind. Central govt has given its approval to set up 16 new CIPET centres. In the year 2016-17 CIPET has given skill development training to some 65,000 youth.
