Sewa trains will provide connectivity to the far-flung areas where stoppages of premiere trains were not possible
These trains have been planned with spare rakes as a part of ‘sweating of assets’ initiative by the Indian Railways to have better utilization of the rolling stock
Indian Railways launched 9 ‘Sewa Service’ Trains on Tuesday to connect smaller towns around major cities.
Of 9 ‘Sewa Service’ trains in eight states, four trains will run on a daily basis and other five, 6 days a week.
- Vadnagar – Mahesana DEMU (6 days a week) - Gujarat
- Asarva –Himmatnagar DEMU (6 days a week)- Gujarat
- Karur – Salem DEMU (6 days a week)- Tamil Nadu
- Coimbatore – Pollachi Passenger (6 days a week)- Tamil Nadu
- Coimbatore – Palani Passenger (Daily)- Tamil Nadu
- Yesvantpur – Tumkur DEMU (6 days a week) - Karnataka
- Murkongselek – Dibrugarh Passenger (Daily) - Assam
- Bhubaneswar – Nayagarh Express (Daily) - Assam
- Delhi – Shamli Passenger (Daily)
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal said, these trains will provide connectivity to the far-flung areas where stoppages of premiere trains was not possible. These trains will act as link trains to serve the common man of the country. The Minister recalled the connect of Mahatma Gandhi to the Railways. Remembering Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, on the occasion of his birth anniversary, Goyal said that the former President during his childhood in Rameswaram had memorable experience with Indian Railways.
Goyal pointed out that it is a unique concept to start these 9 Sewa trains with layover/ spare rakes as a part of ‘sweating of assets’ initiative by the Indian Railways. This was part of strategies of Indian Railways to have better utilization of the rolling stock without any requisition fornew rolling stock.
He further added that Railways has taken transformational steps like Cleanliness campaign in Railway premises across the country, Wi-Fi facility at 5000 Railway stations,Installation of Bio toilets in coaches to clean the tracks, Ayushmann Bharat facility in Railway hospitals across the country.
These trains will run on the “Hub and Spoke” Model, thereby facilitating passengers to use these trains to reach the “Hub” for availing onward journey to other major stations. Indian Railways plans to run more trains on similar model to serve the passengers of smaller towns and cities. These measures are also expected to boost the earnings of the Indian Railways to help in strengthening the economy.
रेलवे ने 9 ‘सेवा सर्विस’ ट्रेनों का शुभारंभ किया
भारतीय रेलवे ने प्रमुख शहरों के आसपास के छोटे कस्बों को कनेक्टिविटी या रेल संपर्क सुलभ कराने के लिए 9 ‘सेवा सर्विस’ ट्रेनों के परिचालन का शुभारंभ किया।
आठ राज्यों में इन 9 ‘सेवा सर्विस’ ट्रेनों में से 4 ट्रेनें प्रतिदिन और अन्य 5 ट्रेनें सप्ताह में 6 दिन चलाई जाएंगी।
● वडनगर - महेसाणा डेमू (सप्ताह में 6 दिन) – गुजरात
● असरवा - हिम्मतनगर डेमू (सप्ताह में 6 दिन) – गुजरात
● करूर - सलेम डेमू (सप्ताह में 6 दिन) – तमिलनाडु
● कोयम्बटूर - पोलाची पैसेंजर ट्रेन (सप्ताह में 6 दिन) – तमिलनाडु
● कोयम्बटूर - पलानी पैसेंजर ट्रेन (प्रतिदिन) – तमिलनाडु
● यशवंतपुर - तुमकुर डेमू (सप्ताह में 6 दिन) - कर्नाटक
● मर्कोंगसेलेक - डिब्रूगढ़ पैसेंजर ट्रेन (प्रतिदिन) – असम
● भुवनेश्वर - नयागढ़ एक्सप्रेस (प्रतिदिन) – असम
● दिल्ली - शामली पैसेंजर ट्रेन (प्रतिदिन)
इस अवसर पर रेल और वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने कहा कि ये ट्रेनें उन सुदूरवर्ती इलाकों में कनेक्टिविटी प्रदान करेगी जहां प्रीमियर ट्रेनों का ठहराव संभव नहीं है। ये ट्रेनें देश की आम जनता को सेवा प्रदान करने के लिए संपर्क रेलगाडि़यों के रूप में अपनी भूमिका निभाएंगी। गोयल ने रेलवे से महात्मा गांधी के जुड़ाव को स्मरण किया। आज डॉ. ए.पी.जे. अब्दुल कलाम की जयंती पर उन्हें स्मरण करते हुए श्री गोयल ने कहा कि रामेश्वरम में अपने बचपन के दिनों में पूर्व राष्ट्रपति का भारतीय रेलवे के साथ स्मरणीय अनुभव रहा था।
गोयल ने कहा कि भारतीय रेलवे की ‘लागत में कमी व परिसंपत्तियों के इष्टतम उपयोग’ पहल के तहत अतिरिक्त रेकों के साथ इन 9 ‘सेवा सर्विस’ ट्रेनों का परिचालन शुरू करना एक अनूठी अवधारणा है। यह नए रोलिंग स्टॉक की मांग किए बिना रोलिंग स्टॉक का बेहतर उपयोग करने संबंधी भारतीय रेलवे की रणनीतियों का एक हिस्सा था।
उन्होंने कहा कि रेलवे ने देश भर में रेलवे के परिसरों में साफ-सफाई के अभियानों, 5000 रेलवे स्टेशनों में वाई-फाई सुविधा, रेल पटरियों को स्वच्छ रखने के लिए रेल डिब्बों में बायो-टॉयलेट की व्यवस्था करने और देश भर में फैले रेलवे के अस्पतालों में आयुष्मान भारत की सुविधा जैसे रूपांतरणकारी कदम उठाए हैं।
ये ट्रेनें ‘हब एंड स्पोक’ मॉडल के तहत चलाई जाएंगी जिससे यात्रियों को इन रेलगाडि़यों का उपयोग कर ‘हब’ तक पहुंचने और फिर अन्य प्रमुख स्टेशनों के लिए आगे की यात्रा करने में सुविधा होगी। भारतीय रेलवे ने छोटे शहरों एवं कस्बों के यात्रियों को बेहतर सेवा प्रदान करने के लिए इसी मॉडल की तर्ज पर कई और रेलगाडि़यां चलाने की योजना बनाई है। इन उपायों से भारतीय रेलवे की कमाई भी बढ़ेगी जिससे अर्थव्यवस्था को मजबूती प्रदान करने में मदद मिलेगी।
