To draw nationwide attention to the depletion of rivers and to find solutions that will not just replenish streams but help increase farm income and reduce floods and droughts, spiritual guru Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is embarking on a month-long 'Rally for Rivers' - he will drive the entire distance from Kanyakumari to Himalayas between September 3 and October 2 to garner people and government support.
Sadhguru will be traveling through 16 states and meet the Chief Ministers and other officials.
An expert committee of environmental scientists and lawmakers is now in the process of drawing up a plan for restoration that he intends to submit to the Centre at the end of his rally.
In every city/town one witnesses the same scenario - drying, dirty, polluted rivers. Local efforts will have to be pulled in to reverse this situation.
