The alertness of two teenagers of Goyla Dairy village in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka saved the lives of 194 people onboard a Bengaluru-bound GoAir flight on Wednesday. These two boys were sitting on their terrace when they noticed the tail of the airplane on fire. One of them called out his father who called up the Delhi police. On receiving the information from Delhi Police, CISF personnel conveyed the message to Airport Operations Control Centre and Air Traffic Control. The captain of the plane was alerted who brought back the plane with fire safety and ambulance ready on the ground for an emergency landing.
This story has a lesson for all - one must be alert and when one sees something amiss must take immediate follow up action. The timely call of the teenager to the father, the call from the father to police and so on did help avoid a major accident which could have risked the life of so many lives.
