मानव जीवन कर्म प्रधान है। जन्म के साथ ही संबंध और कर्तव्य जुड़ जाते हैं। मनुष्य कभी अकेला नहीं रहता, किसी-न-किसी की आवश्यकता तो उसे पड़ती ही है और जब साथ में जीवन बिताना ही है , तो एक-दूसरे के हित को भी विचार करना पड़ता है।यहीं से दायित्व आरम्भ होता है।
दायित्व का अर्थ जिम्मेदारी भी होता है। दायित्व केवल मानवीय संबंधों में ही नहीं होता, बल्कि देश, समाज, प्रकृति औरपर्यावरण के प्रति भी होता है।कल्पना कीजिये यदि जीवन में दायित्व न होते तो, हम कैसे दिन बिताते, हमारी दिनचर्या का कुछ लक्ष्य होना चाहिये, तब ही व्यवस्थित जीवन होगा। हम जिस भी कर्म और संबंध से जुड़ें हैं, उसे सकुशल निभाना ही दायित्व है।यह कहा जाय तो गलत न होगा कि, दायित्व ही जीवन प्रेरणा है।
Discharging one's responsibility is a highly appreciated and desired personality trait. Parents want their children to be responsible. Being responsible, means:
being dependable
keeping one's word
meeting one's commitments
doing something to the best of one's ability
being accountable for one's behavior
accepting credit when you do things right and acknowledging mistakes
being a contributing member of one's family, community and society
Being responsible is a key to children's success both in school and in the larger world when they grow up.
