जिज्ञासा मनुष्य की विशेषता है। मनुष्य सदा कुछ कार्य करने के लिए प्रयत्नशील रहता है। जिस तरह समय बदलता है उसी तरह मनुष्य की मनोवृत्ति बदलती है और नये-नये कार्य करना चाहता है।
किसी भी नये कार्य के लिए मन में नये विचार आवश्यक है, नये विचार के लिए मन में जिज्ञासा की आवश्यकता है। किसी भी वस्तु को देखकर उसके बारे में जानने की इच्छा ही जिज्ञासा है। कुछ नया कार्य करने के लिए कुछ नये विचार चाहिए यही जिज्ञासा है।
विषय - वस्तु को देखकर उसके बारे में जानने की इच्छा ही जिज्ञासा है। नवीन सृजन के लिए जिज्ञासा आवश्यक है अर्थात अविष्कार की पहली सीढ़ी ही जिज्ञासा है।
Curiosity is a hunger to explore and a delight in discovery. When we are curious, we approach the world with a child-like habit of poking and prodding and asking questions. We are attracted to new experiences. Rather than pursuing an agenda or a desired set of answers, we follow our questions where they lead.
Socially, curiosity lets us really listen to other people because we want to know who they are. We open ourselves to the morsels of knowledge and experience they can share with us. We relish having discoveries of our own to share.
Curiosity makes us interested in a broad range of information about the world around us. We learn for the joy of learning.
