The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to regulate the whole process of admission to classes 9 and 11 in all its affiliated schools across the country from next year. Board has formulated the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to standardise admissions in these classes which are currently conducted by schools on the basis of their own rules.

CBSE has informed all its schools to follow the guidelines mentioned in the SOPs, while conducting admissions to classes 9 and 11. A strict action will be taken against those found violating the board’s instructions.

For admission to these two classes, CBSE has defined 11 categories some of which are as below:

  • Shifting of family
  • Shifting of hostel
  • Re-admission in other school after failing in class 9 or class 12
