Under the ‘Mukhyamantri Tirth Yojana’ people above the age of 60 years coming under BPL category will be sent on pilgrimage by Jharkhand Government. This scheme was approved in the state cabinet on Tuesday. In this scheme, followers of “all the religions and communities can undertake journey to any pilgrimage centre of their choice”.

The Deputy Commissioner of the District will select persons on 'first come first serve' basis on certain criterias. In one's life time the scheme provides for state sponsored pilgrimage twice. However the gap between the two pilgrimages must be two year. The destinations can be both inside and outside the state.
