Jharkhand Becomes First State to Implement DBT in Kerosene

After the success of Direct Benefit Transer (DBT) of subsidy on Gas cylinders, Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry has started this scheme for Kerosene. And the first state to implement this is Jharkhand. To start with four districts have been selected for this. The districts of Chatra, Hazaribagh, Khunti and Jamtara have been selected where implementation of this scheme has started on 1st October.

Under this scheme PDS kerosene will be sold at non-subsidised price and the subsidy will be transferred to consumers directly into their bank accounts. This initiative is aimed to plug the leakages, which was often talked of. Earlier it was said that this subsidised kerosene was being sold in black market to a great extent.
