Over 4.9 Lakh Apprentices Trained In Last 3 Years

The number of apprentices trained under Apprenticeship training program implemented by MSDE under the “Apprentices Act 1961” (amended up to 2014) during last three calendar years is given below. State-district and trade wise details of apprentices is given in Annexure –I and Annexure-II respectively.

Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has taken following steps to meet the requirement of skilled manpower for  industries which are not getting skilled workers despite heavy demand:

  • i. Introduction of two year Advanced Technical Diploma Program in IT, Networking & Cloud computing in National Skill Training Institutes (NSTI), Bangalore and National Skill Training Institutes (NSTI), Hyderabad jointly with IBM-India.
  1. Introduction of new-age courses like IoT -Smart Health Care, IoT –Smart City, 3D Printing, Drone Pilot, Solar Technician, Geo Informatics Assistant etc. in 12 National Skill Training Institutes(NSTI)  from 1st August, 2019 at the behest of National Association of Software Services Companies (NASSCOM) to meet the  skilled manpower requirement of future of jobs in IT-ITES sector.
  2. Implementation of Dual System of Training in ITIs jointly with industries, for their explicit skill need where on-job training’ (OJT) is conducted by industries themselves.
  3. Flexi MoU between Directorate General of Training and Industries for conducting training programmes as per their specific needs.

Training of youth has generated self-employment. State wise, number of trainees who are self-employed after taking skill training under various schemes of MSDE is given at Annexure-III.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship R.K. Singh in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
