School Student Raises Funds for LEDs for Poor

One Meera Vashisht, a class VII student in US has raised 1.4 lakh Rupees through crowd funding to distribute LED bulbs to the underpriviledged. This Indian origin student learnt about the Ujala programme and came up with the idea of helping the poor to reduce their power bill and reducing CO2 emission. Vashisht said that she wants to inspire other students too, around the globe, to work towards energy efficiency. The LED bulbs purchased by her from ESSL were distributed in the JJ clusters of Keshavpuram in New Delhi.
