Solar Power Push At Cochin Airport

Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) in Nedumbassery had come in the news sometime back when it became the first airport in the world to meet its entire electricity requirement through solar power. Now, news comes for another first to its credit. The car parking bays will have roof-top solar panels.

A first-of-its-kind initiative in the nation, the solar 'carport' has been laid out over 2.25 lakh square feet, with an institutional capacity of generating 2.7 MW power from around 8,500 solar panels. Once completed, it will accommodate 14,000 cars at a time.
