VOs and NGOs Helping In Providing Education To Tribal Students

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs provides financial assistance to Voluntary Organisations / Non-Governmental Organisations under the scheme of ‘Aid to Voluntary Organisations working for the welfare of Scheduled Tribes’ for running and maintenance of residential schools, non-residential schools and educational complexes.

Details of top ten organizations which have been given highest amount of funds under the scheme during last three years for running the said schools are given below.

To ensure proper utilization of funds by the NGOs/VOs, audited statements of accounts as well as utilization certificate, duly certified by Chartered Accountants, pertaining to previous releases are invariably obtained. The Ministry considers projects under the scheme based upon the annual inspection carried by the District Authorities and scrutiny & recommendation of multidisciplinary State Level Committee every year. Inspections are also carried out by Officers from Central Government and State Government to oversee the functioning of these schools from time to time.
