Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) is coming up with another artificial wall to help athletes excel in speed climbing, an event which makes its debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The 50-feet fibre-based speed climbing wall with speed holds, being built by Pune-based Stepin Adventure at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakh, is likely to be completed by October 15.
Speed climbing is a form of indoor rock climbing where athletes compete for the fastest time to the top of the climbing wall. The competition takes places on a standardised climbing wall with the same holds and route for consistency.
