Girls in Delhi Being Given Self-Defence Training By Police

Delhi Police have launched an initiative to impart training to young girls for self-defence. Named 'Sashakti' it is aimed to train more than a lakh of girls and women.

In the launch programme some 1500 girls from more than 50 schools and colleges participated. Special Officers even answered questions of participants on cyber crime, particularly related to safety of content on FaceBook and WhatsApp.

With the ever increasing number of crimes against females this is a very positive move by Delhi Police. Police of some other cities in different states have also undertaken such initiatives in different forms. It is time that the Home Ministry should come out with a detailed action plan on this and direct all states to implement it.
