To empower women and to safeguard their interests Jharkhand government has taken a very bold decision of waiving stamp duty fee for women wanting to purchase immovable property. The stamp duty fee in Jharkhand is 7%. Some time back in 2015 the government had given a 10% relaxation on stamp duty fee to women for purchasing property. Now the government plans to just charge Rs1/- as stamp duty fee for purchase of property for women.
The government will be sacrificing around Rupees 100 crore as a result of this waiving of stamp duty fees.
